I have just read the report in the Telegraph, the one where the PC notes are written.

It is my opinion he should resign (or better, be sacked) and not be allowed back in government. Cameron has shot himself in the foot by supporting him.

As it states members of the public overheard what he said, it would be interesting if any of them where prepared to come forward.

The problem for me is that these people are our elected "leaders". They should set an example by their actions. I would be the first to say that anyone can lose their rag and say or do something inappropriate. It is how you then deal with it. You can face up to what you did, say sorry to the appropriate parties (police and in this case the electorate) OR you can do nothing OR as appears in this case fudge the issue as to what was actually said to who and hope that the plebs (us in other words) don't notice or care. To me it is just more of the attitude that saw expenses fiddling, decreasing the plebs pensions whilst maintaining their own and so on.

Here is a question. If a coloured hoody youth used the same expletives and the word pleb to a police officer outside the Palais de Dance, would anyone care?

I find that these days 'everyone' wants to 'poke their nose' into everything.. Just how much does it affect your life ? Just who, has not cursed at a copper or someone else in authority, when something has upset us ? How many posts have I read when someone has got a parking ticket, and then the abusive titles applied to the ticketer. But I don't see anyone popping off to apologise  Look at the misery and violence going on all over the world, and yet we worry about what someone has said to a copper... Just look at the time taken up by this nonsense on the news programmes, the column inches in the tabloids. He is a part of the government, a politician, " SO WHAT " ! We all seem to be shocked by actions of politicians, footballers, royalty et al. 'Why' ? They don't do anything that the rest of us don't do. We are critics of the likes of Clarkson and Marr for having affairs, while an enormous percentage of the critics have themselves got a 'bit on the side'. Recently on one of the forum threads Maggie Thatcher was slated yet again, condemned for what she did to the miners, blamed for miners families suffering. No-one mentioned the coppers on duty up there at the time buying T.V.'s, stereos, video players etc from these very same families for such a small amount that it was nothing short of theft, and then returning to their hometowns bragging about how cheeply they bought the item for, or selling it on at a proper price. 'Those who live in glass houses'...

He says he did not use the words attributed to him, if he is lying he should be sacked, if this is true then the police are lying, and should be sacked.
If there are independent witnesses, they should be asked what they herd, but from what I have read no one has asked for them to come forward. Both sides, in the past, have been economical with the truth and been proved that they were.  There will be a lot of shouting and it will peter out and nothing will come of it.
