Erm Whats this?
« on: 24 September 2012, 10:45:19 »

Found this in my car. Anyone recognise it please. There's a spline in the larger end, like it pushes on to something and is then used to turn or make an adjustment to whatever it attaches to. Cheers

Looks like a tyre valve cap put-er on-erer from A N Other Vauxhall ...... the fuel filler cap on an Astra G has a specific clip on the inside for it. In al the years we had an Astra G, I never used it.  ::)  :y

Yep, I'd go with that as I have one in my glovebox, along with the sunroof manual winder thing.

Yep the valve cap remover wins it. Just checked the handbook n there's a diagram of it. That's 1 thing sorted now to carry on with the 101 other issues lol. Like why does my motor run fine with the MAF disconnected, why is it costing me about a quid/mile in petrol but the CATs don't stink, why does the car tick over so badly for a minute or so after reconnecting the battery and if the MAF is connected, where the hell is that hissing sound coming from at the back of the plenum, why's the EML on, why are the injectors so loud, fuel trim codes GRRRRR, why did I buy.......nah I love it really. Cheers guys  :)

Valve cap remover, as said above, lives in the petrol cap  :y

 :D
From what remember reading somewhere it is a tool simply for removing and replacing the tyre valve dust caps so your hands stay clean of the brake dust!
At least that is what I use mine for cos the splines in the hollow end fit the valve cap perfectly.
Might be right or might be wrong but at least I found a decent use for it............

As you look at the fuel cap, at the 6 o/c position there`s a slot, fits in that

Just had a look at mine, there is no clip to hold the valve remover, only the petrol cap holder at the top left hand side
