Wet weathers issues. I could do with some help

This morning in torrential rain I drove to a meeting, about an hour and a half.
coming out of the meeting an hour later I jumped inn the car as normal.
The car started as normal and within minutes of leaving the car park and accelerating from the roundabout I has a loss of power (not cut out) and the energy management light came on for a few seconds.
Once up to speed the light went out and driving was normal
Within 30 minutes the light came on again and when reaching the next junction, whilst at a standstill I noticed misfiring.

I have been told it is water getting into the system. That was quite obvious
Can anyone highlight either where the answer maybe on the forum from a similar question or guidance as to how to stop this

Don't know what engine you have but I would suggest getting the codes that are stored

We are a bit limited as we have no idea what engine you have  ;)

Scuttle leaking, dripping and leaking water into spark plugs would be a common fault.

But, we need engine and codes for starters  :)

spark plug zones full of rain water
how do I stop it?

I had exactly the same problem in the rain on that Monday. Plug 2 full of water. Replaced the three spark plugs on that bank. Still had a problem with rough running. New coil pack solved the problem. How the water got so high I don't know. I'll keep away from puddles in future

The water will be leaking from the scuttle, if you feel the sponge underneath it you probably find it soaking

Take the plastic scuttle panel off and dry out the foam.

Apply a thick bead of silicone/silkaflex or similar around the curved metal section of the fire wall where the larger section of the scuttle sits.Refit scuttle ensuring sealant fully sticks to underside of scuttle ...run another bead around both windscreen wiper holes again sealing it down onto the circular plastic/rubber plugs.

That should seal it up from further water with any luck.You may need to remove each plug lead and dry out the plug wells with tissue/kitchen roll and also may find the dispack area is also damp too.

Really need to cure the misfire though as it will have a knock on effect if you continue driving it like that ...may damage the cats due to unburnt fuel entering them.

With the 2.6 and 3.2 (DBW Engines) the ECU will turn off the fuel supply to any cylinders it detects are misfiring, preventing any unburnt fuel getting near the cats. Good eh?  :y

I do fully agree though - sort the misfire ;)
