i'd firstly like to respectfully thank all involved in a very helpfull website. I've never posted before and it appears my first posting has been removed and i can sort of understand why.  I'm trying to give away a sweet engine and gearbox because the car car has to go.{ not withstanding its scrap weight }The time scales i have don't allow me build a large number of posts . As things stand this car will be crushed . Your thoughts would be appreciated Regards Rod

Thats not entirely true - you were trying to sell the parts (I've just rechecked your (deleted) post, to double check my facts) ::)

And the rules are there for a reason, because we have had problems in the past with unknown sellers. The 250 posts, whilst not entirely eliinating the problem, reduces it dramatically.

And the reason we don't allow giving parts away? Because some people who claim to 'give' parts away when they have insufficient posts, actually don't. They want money. Or change silly postage.

I sent one to the scrapper last week with loads of good  parts still on it as didn't have the room or ability to remove them myself, would have given them away but have to respect the rules, but it can be frustrating too. Maybe a reduction in posts? 150 perhaps? I have (am) a member of another car forum, they have a 50 post rule which seems to work. Anyway I dont make the rules, I just try to stick to them lol

The software we use means it has to be down at a membergroup level, so either 50, 250, 500, 1000 etc etc.

We did have it at 50 for ages, but found some people spammed the site (easy done just to get 50 posts), then posted ads. The next membership level, 250, makes this much less likely. Its there to provide some level of protection for our members.

Its not ideal, but its currently the best option we have available to us. And it does work quite well, although we understand the frustrations of long standing members below the postcount limit.

Thank you JimE. It is a shame that there is no way of knowing if a random person is genuinely interested or out to make a dishonest buck. the days of giving away cars are long gone. My elite was v good but had the week arm bush so never inspired the new mv6 is quite tight and i don't see me changing it in a hurry ," I spend my money on beer and motorbikes ,the rest i waste"

I was fed up that I couldn't take off more parts but due to fairly recent heart surgery  lying under cars isnt top of my wish list

Hi all, the planets have aligned that i am driving an empty recovery truck to Donaster Tommorow. No time to remove and or sell any of the parts or the complete car . Today i rode a zzr1100 to merthyr tydfil and put in on the back ( using a pallet and forklift truck) of a toyota tipper d4d 300 and drove home. Any way I'm going to try to put a new post up that this week end i have free use of a workshop and ramp and will be stripping my elite. I want to work out how the cars are screwed together and have the spare engine and box for myself . Any one is welcome to pop in and play. Rod
