Methinks something similar may be happening on this side of the Pond.  ::) :(

Personally, I think this obsession with smart phones is a tad unhealthy, but that's just me I guess.  ;)

Indeed. Not just the budget either. Went out for a meal with Mrs. KW recently and the couple at the next table were clearly iTards. One had an iPhone and the other an iPad. Each held midway between plate and face throughout the meal. They were stabbing blindly at their plates with a fork, unable to avert their eyes from @rsebook for long enough to eat a decent meal. ;D Sad, really.

Yes, an internet connection when out and about would be handy on the odd occasion, but it's not something I'd pay significant money for, TBH.

After breaking many phones by placing them on the scuttle or boot seal and closing the bonnet or boot on them or ruining the keys with carb cleaner i've now got the cheapest phone (£15) I could find. It makes and receives calls and texts and thats it oh and I have a £5 per month Giffgaff PAYG sim, it gives me 300 texts which is more than enough for me and an hours worth of calls a month which is topped up by however long someone calls me for so if I keep you talking you know why ::) ;D

There are three contracts linked to me in our household, and when they run out next April I don't plan to renew them. I'll need to find a suitable PAYG but will definitely be looking at Giff Gaff too.

Im told my phone is a smartphone, but I have never been interested in finding out how smart.Ocassional calls & texts. A tenner a month PAYG is plenty. No interest in internet on a phone personally.
Just been offered an iphone as daughter is upgrading to the latest version in addition to her work crackberry. Politely declined and suggested it would be best to flog it on fleabay. It would be wasted on me tbh.
