I'd have an M3 or M5, could not afford to run it though

The way fuel prices are going up! Think most people are finding it hard to run anything T?

Was reading an article last night that said fuel sales have dived in recent months, period they gave (Auto Express) April - June, this year was 400 million litres down on same period last year  :o

Trouble is i'm spoiled really when it comes to car running costs, as DIY service work + LPG in the 2.2, means the Omega is dirt cheap to run.

Very unlikely I'll ever be a BMW owner through choice. They used to make decent cars....

Also the M3 is mechanically/electronically/comfort wise s**te and worse than the omega! I know a few mates that have got them, and one problem after another turns up, smg gearbox is first to come to mind. Although theres so many bmw forums it doesnt help, as youll still be getting the parts from the stealers.. (Applies to e46's)

me personally, i cant see the appeal of bimmers. each to his own though of course  :y

if i had a good amount of dosh i'd love a mercedes though. one can but dream  :y

The thing is Webby, the only Mercs worth buying are all Omega money, and a good bit older/higher mileage/more used :-\

God awful cars (like the wheels though  8) ) but these cars are for snobs / for people who think their it basically  :-X ::)  IMO  :)

Some annoying lad has one locally in town but the saloon sport 3.5 v8 W reg in black with black alloys and lives in a council house thinks he's it and with his arm dangling out with shades on with his teenage lover with his kid lol

I do wish people wouldn't be so narrow minded.  :-\

I know that I'm wasting my breath but here goes anyway.  ::) ::) ;D ;D

The highlighted bit above must be true as when I go out in the Omega I wear cheap jeans and cheap sunglasses but when I go out in the Bmw I undergo a complete personality transplant and put on my best snobby shoes and trousers and wear my snobbiest sunglasses so that I can lord it over the peasants.  ::) ::) Yeah right.  ::)

I'm all for defending the Omega marque but just imagine this: 'A fictitious Omega' pulls like a train from any speed and is limited to the agreed 155mph but still returns over 600 miles to a tank of fuel. It's comfortable to drive and eats up the miles with ease. Sounds great so far, but hey, wait a minute, you can't have one because some ignorant, snobby, holier than thou fat b@stard up the road has one.  ;D ;D
Not really a good reason to avoid them is it.  ::) ::) ;D At least have constructive criticism and not base it on alleged stereo-typical owner.  :y
If you don't like a certain car then that is a completely different matter. We all have our likes and dislikes and it would be a strange world if we didn't. All cars have their share of problems if you keep them long enough.  ;) ;) :y
Anyway, for now I suppose it's back to 'Over-rated, Over priced and Over here' attitude.

I was considering buying an ex-plod 330 boomer until I spoke to some of the pilots and service guys and saw the prices of them, basically the diesel pumps start to go at 80k, bit back end happy, and they are all retail money with 100+k. So I bought an 02 plate mv6 with 80k and history. :y
