Stag LPG kit help

This is one for the LPG experts.

The Stag kits we got through Teilo; does anyone know what is the max power rating for the vaporiser and injectors from that kit?

I am looking at transplanting the kit in to a new car and I am stuck between 2.  A 1997 XJR (straight 6) or an S-Type 3.0.  I kow the kit will handle the S-Type but the chance to own a proper Jag with the 6 pots in-line is very tempting.

I think he's supplied a couple of vaporisers over the years, so it probably depends which one you've got?

The KME Gold is rated to 240kW (~320bhp) if that's the one you've got..

I think it's the most recent one he did which has the two outlets for gas.

The XJR is rated at 322hp....that's borderline to say the least....unless I set it to switch to petrol above 4000k?

That sounds like the gold one to me.

Might be better to use 2 smaller (silver) vapourisers and run 3 injectors off each  :y

If you drive like me you will spend most of the time above 4000 rpm when playing anyway so defeats the object imo  ;D

(Actually, of course you have. I remember the idle was a bit pants due to the jets being too big)

On the basis that they will happily run a 3.2 with (relatively) small jets drilled, I'd say there's a good chance that they'll be OK.

You will probably struggle with a multivalve tank. Suck it and see, I guess.

Not sure the 3.0 would be a great engine to LPG. IIRC it's essentially a Ford Duratec 30 and a lot of Fords of that era had soft valves. Bit of homework required there. That's only 230 / 240BHP, IIRC so not much more than a 3.2.

Maybe, I will give it a go with the gold....It cant hurt to try.  I can always change later  :y

Even more reason to go for the XJR, especially coming from Mr KW  :y

Just had a thought, if you did fit 2 vapourisers how would you set up the gas pressure ?
2 pressure & temp sensors ?

How would they be wired into the stag loom ?

run the signal from one sensor in to both vaps :y

I would use a single sensor and tee the pressure reference to it from both "banks" of injectors. That way it sees the average of the two.

Then, you can clamp one hose into the "tee", adjust the first vapouriser, then clamp the other side, and adjust the other vapouriser so they are tracking the same pressure.

You could fit a larger "balance pipe" between them, of course, but then one vapouriser would probably be working harder than the other except when engine load is quite high, depending on minute pressure differences between them.

Each engine bank has its' own lambda loop, generally, so it should correct for any slight difference in fuelling. Not sure if that's true of the management on the straight 6, though?

Not got time at the moment, but there's a diagram from Stag for twin Vap setups. It needs a balance pipe ;)
