Hi everyone

First time I have posted here or been on the omega forum. At the moment we drive a nissan primera but it getting on a bit a bit like me really.

We know someone who has an 02 plate Vauxhall omega 2.2 diesel he has had it from new and its been well looked after just over 100.000 miles that he says the head gasket has gone and he is going to send it too the breakers but he has offered to us for what he will get for it at the breakers.

So that why we joined the omega forum and if we decide to get the car and get any issues with the car hopefully this forum will be able to help us.

Those DTi engines are good for 300k easily, so I'd be surprised if the head gasket has gone. If it has, its not been very well looked after. What has made them think it is the HG?

Either way, buy it if its breaker money. A few members here offer mechanical services, I know Elite Pete has quite a lot of experience with this engine. Suspect he could get it running again for little cost, he is currently breaking a 2.2 DTi 

You may get better exposure posting in General Help, if you can get a few more details from the owner on how its failed and what diagnosis has taken place  :y

I've never heard of HG problems with the DTi, but having said that anythings possible.

I would personally buy the car, because you just can't lose :y :y
