Yes it does take a bit of practice. Some steering wheel buttons have no function at all, under certain modes. Some functions are too fiddly when in the mode you want, and are easier to operate from the home screen(Main) ...but you'll see. :y

Ok so the chances are this ain't gonna just plug straight in? I thought the required connecter for the CID was just hidden on the facelifts or is that only on some and you just have to be lucky like you said?

I find its only entering addresses that are too tedious from steering wheel, although I'm now quite good at doing it subconciously. If I think about it, I'm 'dangle berries'ed ;D

You've got more chance of pulling your foreskin up over your head to keep your ears warm. Sorry.

The adapter is quite easy to make, however. You need a (full) 36 way iso TM loom, the small black plug, and about 2' of wire to connect that plug to TM loom.  TM loom also needs some wires swapping about.

You will also be lacking the GPS aerial, so that won't work, unless you add one somehow.

Basically this unit is coming out of Brikheads mig which is being broken, so should have the gps antenna and anything else we should need as far as I know, it has been retro fitted to his at some point, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing regarding wiring. As for TM looms etc. I ain't a clue. I'm hoping he does as he will hopefully be installing it for me this weekend all being well.

I should know more shortly as I'm just about to go out to the car now and have a look at the screen wiring.

I can see the point at which the stereo wiring has been modified but the wiring for the screen seems intact upto where it disapears behind the dash.

It might be best to start a new thread Mate, seems this one has died a death...

It's really not that hard a job to fit the screen and I'd have no worries about doing it to a car that I owned, it's just that with your car if anything were to happen then you'd be stranded a long way from home!
Plus the Chap with the TechII thingie whom I was hoping may be able to lend a hand has no experience with the Bose set-up ::)
Also, without seeing it, I'm unsure of the exact wiring fitted to your car.

I'm guessing you have just one wiring connector on the back of your screen?
It may be grey in colour with around 30 odd wires attached? From what I can work out I'd HAVE to splice into this loom on your car.

The colour screen in my car has two connectors going to it a large 32 pin grey one and a smaller black one, the black one is mainly fed from the stereo but three wires are spliced into the grey connector, also this grey connector has had a few of the wires snipped and left disconected...

As said by 'The Boy' it would be easy to modify a TM loom to supply the black connector,
I do have a spare traffic master loom knocking around, the diagram below may help to illustrate...

...it shows the three block connector fitted to the rear of your stereo, I think you said you have a
CCR2006 headunit fitted in your Mv6, these have double the amount of pins in the third connector so are
labelled from 17 to 36. First connector (block 1-8) deals with power to the stereo, second connector (9-16)
is for sound output, only the third connector (block 17-36) needs major changes...

This is how the pins are wired in my car...

The only issues I have are pins 25, 32 & 33. Oh and possibly 29 but I guess it's just not used, like the other unpopulated ones...
25 and 33 are joined together then go into the screens grey plug via a white wire.
32 is green and again goes to the screens grey plug.
These white and green wires may not be standard but they do go neatly into the grey connector.
