Parcel 2 Go. Arrgh!

A few weeks ago, Mr Twiglet kindly purchased the CID, BOSE, NCDC2013 kit etc from my breaker. It was all packaged up in lots of bubble wrap, and neatly stacked into a box, which was taped up using copious amounts of parcel tape.

The day of collection arrived. Said 7am-7pm collection on the email. My poor other half stayed in all day, while I was at work. Nobody arrived.

A little bit annoyed, but putting it down to one of those things, I re-arranged for the following day, via their website.

This time, I think it was my turn to stay in all day. And - you guessed it - no collection!!

Quite annoyed now, I emailed Parcel2Go, who apologised profusely and had it colleted promptly on the Friday.

On the Saturday, the day after, Mr Twiglet wasn't around during the day. He came home to find a card through the door, stating the parcel had been left in a "safe place" - The back Garden!!

The first thing he noticed is that it looked like they had played football with the parcel. Huge split down it, couple of smaller ones. Upon inspection... the worst fears were confirmed. The CID, connector, and a few other slightly less essential components, were missing.

Clearly, due to total mistreatment of the parcel whilst in their care, the split has occured and the Colour screen has fallen out.

I've naturally given Twiglet a full refund, including the postage... but doesn't it really annoy you when things like this happen?

I am also seriously kicking myself for not having taken out extra insurance on the parcel.

That said - I have a complaint running with them, and am attempting to gain some recompense on the basis that -

1) Their Terms and Conditions state they will always get a signature, be that from the recipient, or a neighbour.  They've breached their contract by leaving it in the back yard, unsigned for.

2) The split in that box would not have occured had they shown the remote amount of care for the parcel. Therefore they have been negligent in handling my goods.

3) The recipient had no opportunity to inspect and sign for the goods. Had he been handed them in that condition, he wouldn't have accepted it.

So, as it stands, thanks to Parcel 2 Go's negligence, I have lost my CID and bose. Should have fitted it to the MV6 afterall  >:( ;D

Good luck with trying to progress a dispute with them.They let me down very badly last year and constantly told me lie after lie when I tried to communicate with them.Even when I proved they were lying they just ignored what I said and told even more obvious lies.In the end I told them that although I had given them all my business up to that point I swore I would never use them again and I havent.
Unfortunately Interparcel are becoming almost as bad. And Parcelfarce are if anything worse.Indicitave of todays culture in the U.K Im afraid - customer doesnt matter,customer is always wrong,we are doing the customer a favour by allowing them to use our services. >:(

I have informed them that we should cease communication on the matter, and they should provide me with the name, address and job title of the person upon whom to serve a summons from the small claims court.

No reply as of yet.. ;D

I tried that too.They refused to answer,despite the question being repeated many times. I fookin hate them with a passion. >:(

It's not just a threat - If they refuse to answer, I'll go through with it and request the small claims court to send the relevent paperwork to their managing director. I won't drop it on principle, even if I do lose a little more financially.

I've also had a friend of mine (who specialises in civil recovery cases) look over the facts, and she's very confident I have a strong position.

Apparantly, the fact that I didn't take out extra insurance on the parcel isn't here nor there - the complaint is because Parcel 2 Go haven't honoured their contract...

Will be interested how it pans out!

They have been told they have 14 days to provide the information. If they don't even acknowledge this.... then it can only serve to strentghen the case. I don't know anything about civil law really, but I guess in the best scenario,  the court may take some inference from the fact they didn't even bother to reply to me...

Probably, but if they do anything other than admit full liability, it will have to be taken as a defence. Will probably go to mediation before CC though.

Mediation is fine.. providing the agreed outcome is a full refund! :y

They probably threw it over the roof into the BG hence the damage.
My day job is shipping  parts all around the world.
if you haven`t declared the carriage value (via insurance) you`re knackered
Meaning their liablity for loss or damage is strictly limited. So read the small print, this constitutes the contract between the 2 parties..... take this court & their lawyer will have great pleasure in pointing this out.
some of the smaller players even use a third party to deliver to their regional hubs.
From my experience  if you are not an account holder you may as well whistle dixie

I've used Parcel2go many times and the only time I seem to have trouble is if I use Yodell so I won't use Yodell any more. I always opt for the slightly dearer City Link and they've been brilliant, fingers crossed ::)
