Today I saw a Mercedes crash
« on: 13 October 2012, 22:41:55 »

I wish I had had one of those dash cams.

Coming back into my local town doing about 30 mph. Hardly any cars around as it is yet another festival day.

The car in front left the dual carriageway roundabout and the veered off and up the kerb. I was a sensible distance behind and could see the sparks from underneath as he drove along straddling the footpath. To his right an access road to his left two lanes of dual carriageway. I was just wondering what the hell he was doing when he stopped very quickly and the back end lifted off the deck. Then the brakes went on. What had stopped him was a lampost which he felled.

I thought jeez he must have had a heart attack or passed out so pulled over and got out, went back cursing my bad luck as you do not want to be involved in the Spanish witness process. Then two things. The guy gets out and gets speaking to someone on his mobile and a stroke of luck  the very next car along was a police car. I quietly turned and headed on my way. I wonder if he had been texting or something.

Them cams do help if you are a very careful driver, but mostly these cams record the jokers that have a lead foot, or go for a snooze behind the steering wheel! As for the OP glad there wasnt any collateral damage!  :y
