Saw some Miggy's today...disgusted
« on: 18 October 2012, 21:04:44 »

Hi all,
As my previous posts suggest, we are looking for another Miggy.
Josh is keeping an eye out for me, but I went to see a couple myself today.....can only say, disgusted, and annoyed. First one was only half a mile away, pics looked ok, and seemed a nice car. However, when we saw it, my god...what a shed >:( Wanted £1300 for 03 reg...it absolutely reeked, and I mean reeked of dog. The tailgate had loads of rust bubbles under the wiper, The tailgate rubber was shredded (dog claws). The rubber/trim that runs along the bottom of the screen was away. When I opened the bonnet....well, you could have grown veg in the dirt. Dirt everywhere. Puddles of oil in the valance trays, cam covers covered in oil. I took off the filler cap and the pipe was full of creamy tack. SH showed the cambelt was 6000 miles overdue. The only thing in its favour, the bodywork apart from the tailgate was quite good, and the engine did sound as sweet as a nut (probably deadened by all the crud over it) Had I driven a long way to see it I would have gone ballistic.
Next one was not quite so bad....but again, why do people let you travel miles to see glaring faults that are not listed. The add seemed genuine enough, I spoke to the chap, I deliberately asked him if I was going to find something glaring that he had not put in the ad. 'No...well worth coming to see.'
The bodywork was quite good, except front and rear bumpers (paintwork), quite clean inside. Engine sounded ok, not the cleanest, but that could be remedied.
Drove ok, but h/brake needed shoes or adjustment. But....it had a bloody great crack in the corner of the windscreen. Split right through, you could feel the step. >:(
I have access to spray equipment, and that was my trade for 20 years so painting would not be a problem. However, a broken windscreen is another ball game.
I don't expect a 10 year old car to look like brand new, but come on...there is a limit.

When I want to sell a car, it is cleaned and presented to the best of my ability, and people told what the faults are before they come for miles.

Now gonna have my Candesartan tablet, a cup of tea and calm down.......... ;)

When I sell a car, (which isn't very often) apart from being spotless, I tend to fix anything faulty that I've lived with for years, before I offer it for sale. Annoys the hell out of SWMBO. She asks why the hell didn't I fix it during our ownership?  ::) ::)

Probably rusty as hell underneath the screen, which has caused the crack....  :-\

The trouble is that we have a generation with the egay mindset. There are a proportion of egayers who feel they can sell tat easily and lazily  >:(

Hi guys,

Was not bothered either way, Saloon or Estate....(if the question was aimed at me) :y Actually, swmbo said she prefered another Estate :o

However, today I have purchased an Elite Estate, that was presented reasonably well. Ironically, another 'oofer' was looking as I got there. I gave him first go, but after a test drive (and phoning swmbo) he declined. Really wanted a manual, and diesel. Commented that it drove as sweet as a nut, which was proven when I went out in it. :y
I phoned up about a 3.0 ltr silver saloon first on the bay ( it was in South Wimbledon)....chap answered, strewth, I felt I was speaking to a lord ;D No time for idle chat, when I asked a couple of questions, the answer was to the point..'Sir, this is the best one in the country)!!!!!!!!! If you are a member here, no offence meant in any way, but I felt a bit humbled after I put the phone down. ;D ;D ;D ;D
