horns dead

car failed mot as the horns were not working, relay seems ok as i can hear it click & fuse is intact put a volt meter across horn terminals & get 0v out of one connector & 5.2v out the other, any ideas where to go from here? tis a 97 elite

Try unbolting them and clean up the mounting, reattach and try them again :y

You often get the wires corroding about an inch or so from the connector...

Just because the relay is energising, it doesn't mean the contacts aren't pitted to the point where they can't switch the high current required.

working relay swapped over from another car with working horns & still no joy

It does have a dedicated fuse, worth a check (fuse, IIRC, is just in the horn power circuit, not the circuit that energises the coils).

thanks for all the advice, turns out one of the wires had been trapped in previous life & had just been taped up, eventually corrosion set in & wire failed. So now have 12 months MOT on it, just one more question, i only managed to get one horn working as when i plugged in the second horn neither would work, disconnect second horn & first horn works. Not too fussed just curious as to why?
