Strange buzzing sound from engine bay
« on: 28 October 2012, 06:59:57 »

Hi All.

Not been on here for a while but have a question that someone may be able to help with.
I have noticed that when I first get in the car and turn the ignition on but not turn the engine on I get a strange noise. It sounds like an electric motor running but has a clicking sound to it. It runs for quite a while even after you start the car? Only two guesses I have is its a vacum pump if it even has one or its a headlight adjuster motor that is broken in some way. It seems to be coming from the offside front of the bay.

Sounds like the self levelling suspension pump
... which can be heard in the pedal trick video, if you want to compare. :)

If an elite, suspect self levelling compressor pump, as the others have said.  Its behind bumper, below drivers headlight

ah yes - didn't spot that one.

like I also didn't spot that it's ignition only and not with engine running.
