Starting Issue
« on: 31 October 2012, 13:25:22 »

Hi all

I have an intermittent problem which is now almost permanent.
Key in ignition turn on everything fine, then the final turn to start her and
more often than not, nothing happens. No click clunk dimming of lights or anything.
So try again and nothing. Key out back in sometimes it will will go sometimes not.
Sometimes moving the auto gearstick will work sometimes not. I have two keys and its
the same with both of them.
Any ideas anyone.

Number of things...

Gear Range switch, ign switch, starter solenoid...

You'll have to got through bit by bit I suspect.

Out of interest, try it in N, not P.

I have done that and in fact trying in N instead of P is the one thing that works
most of the time, but not always.
Is there a way to bypass whatever switch could be the problem.
I am assuming that there is a switch that stops the car from starting when in gear,
like the one that will not let me start my bike without the clutch in.

As TB says, you need to re-adjust the selector switch on side of gearbox

Thanks for replies
I will have a go at the weekend.
However I'm not sure in what way it needs adjusting.
Can I get to it from inside or do I need to get underneath?

Thanks Glyn
