Recently I've been using more and more of Netflix over LoveFilm and most films are ok/good quality but annoyingly allot of programs and films are 4:3 and are unwatchable at that size for me, contacted Netflix and they say that's just they way they are  :o

Older programs/films are 4:3.

I watched all the series of Big Cat Diary, series 1-3 are 4:3 but after that they go to 16:9.

I wouldn't say it's un-watchable in 4:3, but you'd certainly complain if they stretched anything from 4:3 to 16:9, the quality would drop.

If I ever watch Simpsons on Sky1HD or Family Guy on FXHD, the episodes made before a certain date will be in 4:3. Whoever you spoke to on the phone to Netflix was right... that's just the way it is.

(You could always try the zoom button on your remote. It'll shave a bit of the top and bottom, though.)
