I must be getting senile. I just sat in front of the computer screen, grabbed the mouse and couldn't get the cursor to move. :(
 
I wiggled it from side to side, up and down and, finally gave it a fairly serious wack on the table.
I decided to look and see if the red light was on and....shit....I was holding my sons mobile phone which he had left next to the mouse. :-[ :-[ ;D
