What mpg are you getting  :-\ Also just inquiring if the 2.0 is pretty much bullet proof , seems to be a fair few around with high mileage indicating good engines ? Anything to look out for ? Im guessing the auto box with 2.0 is a no no so must be a manual for economy reasons  :-\
never found anything wrong with auto box when i had the 2.0 ,  :y :y :y

I was going to say, I know that Cologne V6 was asthmatic but I didn't recall it being that bad. ;)

The point is that, if you're getting a 4 pot for economy, you're throwing it all away again having an auto box. The 4 pots don't, IMHO, have enough power to work well with a relatively old-fashioned 4 speed autobox either, so performance suffers too, again IMHO. It's all about opinions, though. Life would be boring if we were all the same.

Almost, but don't forget that the Sierra barely weighs a tonne, before rust...

Seriously, a 2.8i XR4i is noticably quicker than a 4 pot Omega, and that's not rose tinted memories. I've had timing gear on one and I did about 8 seconds flat 0-60, and low 16 quarters.

Top end was the wrong side of 135 iirc :-X

Granada Cosworth could, hypothetically, cruise at 140... :-X

2.0 is lighter though , its got to be more fuel efficient than a 3.0 around town surely especially if it has the manual box  :-\

The 2.8 XR4i was a dog of a car. Slow, hated corners, and evapourated in front of your eyes.

I do have fond memories of going around Silverstone in one (passenger this time), one dark evening, much to the annoyance of security...  ...and being mullered by a 1.6 Orion :o.  We tried to keep up through a corner (can't remember which now, this was original circuit), and buried it in the gravel.  Fortunately it came out before security got to us.

The 2.9 4x4 version handled well though,I think the Xr4i was more tail happy than the Crapi Capri :-X

Always fun 8)  mine was a late 2.8 '88 E reg, new enough to for ABS to be a 'No Cost Option' rather than a £1000 one, but not quite new enough to be a 2.9 which got ABS as standard ::)

Why that box was never ticked beats the hell out of me :-\ Slowing down, or not, from 70 summat, with all four wheels locked is one of those moments everyone should endure at least once :o although, once might well be the last thing you do :'(

Had that feeling in many, many Fords, not just Sierras. Fortunately, in every case, the tree/lampost/signpost/ditch/oncoming Capri has managed to abruptly reduce my speed.
