Fortunately, I went back to Granadas quite quickly after that particular close call ::) Don't think that I would be here now if I'd kept that car :-\

17 minutes from Pulborough to Gatwick in rush hour can only be described as lunacy :-[

On a positive note, I never actually crashed that car ::)

//TB ponders if he has ever driven a Ford, and not wrapped it around something...   ...in my defence, excluding the truely awful Focus, any other Ford I've had has been a works van ::)

I loved my (2nd) tranny. Nobody dared get in your way. And (usually) very predictable if ploughed into a bend a big ambitiously.

Not that I've ever had a tranny sideways. No. not me. Not ever ::)

Any mischief that went on inside the van, that is not for public forums.

Yes, I found that out driving the Student's Union minibuses though the roundabouts of Colchester between the station and Wivenhoe park, ferrying freshers for their first taste of university life.  ;D

I can remember one girl from the US, fresh from Heathrow, no previous experience of the UK, apart from the preceding British Rail journey, asking:

"Do you all drive like this over here? :o"
"Yep. :y"
"Do you often have accidents"
"Nope. Er.. Well, not that often. :-["

As said, mine was predictable. Except once. I really wasn't expecting that.

Normally when a BT van, err, "gets modified in a corner", off with the ladders, shin up a pole, and call for help (pre mobile phones that worked in the countryside).

No friggin' poles for miles this time. Had to dig the begger out. About 3hrs it took. Good job it wasn't a busy lane (didn't see anyother sole) as I had well and truely blocked it ::)

 ::)

Had a G reg LWB at a firm at Gatwick which used to be cause carnage whenever it rained... used to wheel spin in 1st,2nd, and 3rd. Then having driven 100 yards down the road could be dropped into reverse, (sometimes without clutch :-X), and made to skip nicely upto the curb in a cloud of rubber and steam. No power steering and no turbo, but never really needed either 8) Rust got the better of it in the end :'( Did have one of those proper wraparound nudge bars on it though 8), which probably helped preserve it for a lot longer that was morally right ;D

Sounds like our Heavy Recovery Support Van (was my service van when I first started there and hadn't managed to buy mine and get it kitted out) :y :y
