Aussie Omega - like it!!
« on: 30 October 2006, 19:05:49 »

Maybe this has been flagged before on the forum, but I stumbled across this awesome 3.6 litre Aussie Omega ( :o) and felt an urge to post.

How much is 34,490 Aussie dollars in real money?

Just as a point, Omega is the trim level not the model.

Its a Commodore VE

Omega= GLS
SV6=MV6
SS= MV8!!!
SSV= Brown pants

And of course there will be an HSV version which nodoubt they will do with a supercharger option as it has the LS2 engine, just like the Monaro VXR 500

more info can be found here:- http://www.businessbydesign.co.nz/index.php?page=ve

That's right, I knew it wasn't a real Meggie, but it is Right Whel Drive - and it's built by GM (!). I know some have said it reminds them too much of a Vectra, but give me an SS or an SSV and I wouldn't care if it reminded people of a Bond Bug.  ;D

Doubt we'll ever see an Omega replacement - especially after all the hot air about global warming this week (pun intended). Still, if GM ever decided to import these babies, I'm sure they would be in demand - especially at 13 thousand quid (well, it would be more like 43 thousand quid by the time they've added the UK market premium.

I'm sure that they said on Top Gear this week that Vauxhall were bringing the Commodore in next year some time, it was in the bit about the Monaro.

Edit - For Top read Fifth.

Sod it, I missed that. The whole programme, I mean. Thought they were waiting on Richard Hammond's recovery before airing it again. Must check the schedules for next week.

Are you sure that wasn't FIFTH gear? Hate to think I'd missed TG

SSV - Does that stand for Subtly Styled Vehicle in the spirit of Meega's? or Slow Scooby's Vexed -  representative of the sheer pace and ability to sprint between petrol stations for more loopy juice?
