Astra 4 Flat battery
« on: 15 November 2012, 17:57:05 »

Wife's  Astra Mk4 has a problem, the battery went flat which left her lost in a car park, till the RAC arrived.
Now the question is, The wife said for while now she cant remember a buzzer sounding when she opens the door if the light are on.
I think it is possible the door pin switch because she also said she has had trouble with the interior light not coming on every time.If so till I have order a new one, could I swop the passenger side one over to the drivers side ,or is there a different type to sound the buzzer.
Thank for looking................Colin

You'll have to have a look, but often the driver's door has a double contact switch instead of the single contact switch n the passenger side.  :-\

You could try removing switch from pillar and cleaning contacts with emery paper or similar, not forced to but might just work.

Well the first thing to do is see if the interior light comes on when the passenger door is opened.

On the battery drain, check the glove box light

Also worth checking that the Ignition Barrel pops fully out when removing the keys, that can sound like lights on buzzer (key still in, door open warning) not sure what effect that would have on the interior light but may drain the battery after a while.

Thank you all for your  help,Yes she left the lights on bless her, but can confirm the buzzer will not always sound, some times it will if you press in the switch, and move it around it will flicker.
Have taken the switch out and tried to take it apart but all seam very lose and on replacing still not working un less moving it by hand.
Have looked on Flea Bay for one  but not sure  if it will fit .
Thought about Vectra or Omega one, they look the same but will wait for a Astra one to come up.
Strange question the drivers door one is Black, and the passenger is Grey is this the answer as to whether it will work the buzzer......but thank you all
