Hi guys,

As above, my mate (who's actually my step son-in-law  ) who i did his spark plugs for came to me today saying his car was running shit and his check engine light was on.

now, i dont have a code reader but he went to another mate who does and he has the p0351 (coil) code.

his mate reckons this cide is common following an S.P. change 

SO.

Are we saying that by swapping out his plugs has damaged his distributor/coilpac?

anybody any ideas what the fix is?

i spoke to my tutor today and he simply said replace coilpac. fair enough but a bit of a coincidence

I don't know, but a faulty plug lead on mine last week led to a DIS pack failure, then a blown middle exhaust box.  So maybe your "coincidence" is not that uncommon Webby!

Possible it was tired, and the process of removing/refitting was enough to send it over...

Its the leads that often give up when disturbed as they run bloody hot on those engines,worth trying a new set first as if you end up fitting a coil pack I would fit new leads with it anyway

thanks for all use replies. Well he's desperate to get his motor back so he went straight out and bought new coil pack with leads so fair enough. They arrive Wednesday so ill give him hand with that. Then ill send him back to his mate to get the codes erased and hopefully we're all good :-) cheers folkS

just changed coil pack on the cabby,still had slight missfire,got mine for £26 from gfs,also if you go there they do a 10% discount card on everything

thanks Martin. Its all sorted now. New coil pack. He reused the old leads as the new ones looked poor apparently but all is running well. From my point of view I'll certainly keep this in mind if i do any future ford servicing
