Have you seen Halford's offering of chains and socks:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=Snow+chains&department=all&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1

Anyone know how good snow socks are? ???

My very limited experience of them ....

Good in 100% covereing of dry snow

Poor on wet snow/ice/slush

Wear out VERY fast on tarmac surface .. :(

So, given that most of the time I was on patchy/slushy stuff trying to get a neighbours car out of a mess ... you could say I was not impresed :(

Miggy with chains and a towrope succeeded easily .. :)

They got me out of this Lizzie! AND a lot easier to fit than chains.
