« on: 28 April 2008, 22:23:16 »

just been talking to my m8, he went for a curry last night and said he nearly passed out as it was so hot,  what is the point in eating something that hot, can you actually taste the food??? i burn up after a kebab.

A Madras in a restaurant is hot enough fo me, but from a takeaway i generally go for a Vindaloo :D

Water and milk at home is cheaper ;)

I like a nice Chicken Korma :y

.....maybe the liking for a 'stupidly-hot' ruby is a blokey-bloke competitive thing?  ;)

Nothing wrong with Korma or Masala, coupled with a light Ale it works just as fine as my Vindaloo ;D

Years ago i struggled with a Madras & did'nt see the point in eating anything so hot you could'nt taste it. For some masochistic reason i enjoyed the pain (really) & now if eating out or ordering in i'll have a chicken vindaloo with green chillies so you get a "crunch" here & there But i still taste the flavours.
I cook my own curries from scratch & if entertaining others am sympathetic with the heat level so all can enjoy. You can cook a lovely curry using all the spices but no chilli.
Spices give taste only, it's the chilli that hots things up. :P
