Checking thermostat in boiling water. Who did?
« on: 28 November 2012, 15:47:45 »

I always check old and new thermostats in boiling water, but Cateras (Omega) thermostat looks very unusual, I am sure what to check. I guess stick should move out more, right?

I think it would be better to boil it in the housing, so you can actually see when it opens. Unfortunately a lot of modern engines are designed to run very close to, if not above, boiling point anyway, so often it's a challenge to get a pot of water to a high enough temperature to open them properly.

Stick was 9/16" cold, 1 1/16" hot.
It is fine.
