I drilled thermostat housing.
« on: 28 November 2012, 18:24:51 »

I installed thermostat in housing and noticed that thermostat didn't close housing hole!
I figured out that for whatever reason stick didn't go in as far as it should. Hole for stick was wide enough half way and then was narrow, so stick didn't go in!
Possibly thermostat was manufactured with too thick stick or housing hole was clogged. I drilled narrow part of hole enough to let stick in.
I checked it in boiling water, everything seemed to be OK.
I hope I did right thing.
Any comments?

some replacement thermostat housings are thinner where they mate up with the engine block.
a lots of forum users either use a shorter bolt or use washers to make up the difference  :y
