repairing a plactic bumper
« on: 29 November 2012, 00:31:58 »

does anyone know if its possible to repair a  rear bumper on a VW Passat, instead of having to replace it

Someone ran into the back of Phils car, and the bumper is cracked on the drivers side right on the curve against the tailgate

is a repair possible, if so, any ideas about how to go about it?

Thanks

Google plastic welding outfits in the local area.A good one can almost perform miracles with broken plastic.  :y

when the plastic welding job is finished.. sand the surface roughness.. 220-320 (dry or wet)

use plastic primer..  then normal primer.. again sand it..  500-800..

then paint..  will be perfect.. :y

ps: normally I'm against bondo as later it creates problems..  if necessary you can use a tiny layer but you need to let it dry for few days..
