M1 smash causes North London gridlock

Traffic apparently really bad this morning. Lucky I work from home.

What an utter waste of life! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Once more young men, involving BMW's, are responsible, with two paying with their lives.  What is it with young men and powerful machines?  Nature gives males in particular that "thing" of being "the best", "the fastest", "the bravest", "the conquer", with aggression and at any price.  Those "drives" can work well on many levels, but this is when all that goes so wrong!! :'( :'( :'( 

I saw it in one of my sons, but he joined the British Army as a Royal Engineer, and played rugby for them, so that was his male "drives" taken care of.  But with so many it results in a waste of young life!

There is no answer to it is there? :'( :'( :'( :'(

Yup possibly idiots, and some might say the gene pool is better off without them ... but somewhere there are mothers/fathers/sisters/friends/lovers all who have now a huge hole in their lives because these "idiots" made a mistake .....

Something that some folks seem to have forgotten we all do every single day, some mistakes are small and matter little, others are big, and have huge consequences, but as humans there is one thing for certain .. we all make mistakes every single day . hopefully we live through most of them ...

Maybe the answer is that blokes should have compulsory chemical castration to knock down testosterone levels before being permitted to drive anything over 50 bhp.  :o

OK, ok, I'll let that go to 100 bhp    ;D

Gosh.

I have just watched an item on BBC news abut a young lad- market trader who bought a Reliant Robin for £750 but it was going to cost £1000's to insure. How much do young lads pay to insure a BMW.?

Loads, which is why many youngsters are not insured. Where I live it's reconed that around 10% of male drivers don't have insurance.

But this incident demonstrates exactly why insurance premiums are so high for under 25's.

What is it with BMW drivers? I have a work colleague who really is a smashing bloke , but he drives a 3 series BMW. I have seen him do ridiculous things on the drive home from work, others have even told him he is going to kill someone having seen his antics,  he is no youngster (about 45) but as soon as he gets in the car there must be a complete personality change.

my other half says BMW stands for BRAINLESS MANIAN WA---ERS there must have been sme in these bmw cars this morning ? but we must still give our symphathy out to their parents whoes christmas has just been ruined RIP

Some years ago I worked for a company that gave me a beemer as a company car (not sure I think it was a 323)

You are absolutely correct. The handling, torque etc etc actually does make people drive like idiots. Believe me, it's true, even my Mrs said so about when she drove it, and she likes old Volvos.
