Hopefully you wonderful people can give me some help, Our thermostatic mixer shower has started only running luke warm yet the taps are running red hot, does it mean the mixer has had it or can they be adjusted from factory settings, It all runs from a combi boiler if that helps

No, Just some cheapo from the bay, we had a new pump fitted to the boiler but as the taps are hot i guess it's nothing to do with that, was hoping i could override the factory settings

A couple of possibilities.

If you live in a chalky area, then the calc may have buggered it.
Normally there is a grub screw adjuster which can be found inside the temperature tap cover. Do not confuse this with the grub screw that actually holds the tap in place. If you loosen that, you'll get very wet. Take off the temp tap cover, and have a look.

Another menthod of adjusting them, is to take off the temp tap cover, turn the inside of the tap a fraction more towards hot and pop the tap cover back on in the same location.

To remove the the cover, normally there is a small cover on the end, about the size of a penny. Pop this off, and you'll find a screw inside

If it has worked well in the past, and the rest of the house is normal, i'd be inclined to think it is fubar.

dont forget that with a combi boiler you need less flow for hot water especially in the colder weather,also try turning up the ater temperature on the boiler

Just a thought, but is your shower plumbed in at the start of the cold water flow, and with a pressure balanced hot feed?  Is the temperature changing when someone turns on a hot tap?

The water pressure of both cold and hot feeds must be balanced unless you have a power / electric shower, especially with the cold water into your property now dropping in temperature as the weather changes.

In other words, when was your shower plumbed in, and have you experienced these problems before?

It's on full, just strange that taps are hot and not shower, tried restricting flow on shower but still the same

Mine just has a turny tap side for hot/cold - it's a thermostatic mixer (no pump/heater) off the combi.. I suspect the thermostatic block is shagged (very, very hard water where I live - kettles are furred up within a week) so I ordered a new one last night @ £80. Wish I'd kept the receipt from when I bought the shower, though, as the nice lady at Triton told me there's a 5 year warranty.. d'oh!

ring up triton and tell them whats happened and its still under warranty,ive called mira in the past with warranty problems and they were very helpfull,even when 1 shower had just packed up several days after it ran out

Changed the thermostatic widget in mine today .. probably should have turned the water off first, however, as undoing it's retaining grubscrew and wiggling was an easy way of discovering that it's before the shower's 'tap', not after. Ahem.

Still, running downstairs to the boiler cupboard (directly below the bath) was a good way to discover that I really need to re-seal the bath as there was almost as much water pouring down into there as there was spraying merrily around the bathroom.


I really shouldn't be allowed to work unsupervised.... Not sure I want to tackle the brakes on the M3 on my own, today, now, just in case this is a sign of things to come!

  That's how they tell you to do it in the manual as well. Done it on ours successfully in the past.

.... and my own experience of Triton is that they are very good at honouring it as well. 

5 year guarantee for thermostatic showers, 2 year guarantee for electric showers. They also stock parts for older showers for about five years according to the Triton guy that did the warranty work on ours. 

Oh, and don't forget to register the guarantee. It saves a lot of grief in the future.
