Power sounder
« on: 10 December 2012, 07:00:03 »

My power sounder keeps going off for no reason and the hazard warning lights flash. I've had this problem on a previous mig.

Is it best to remove the power sounder? Will the hazards still flash sometimes for no reason if I do?

Can someone give to me a link to the guides?

Thanks very much! :y :-* :-* :-*

If the hazards are flashing as the siren is sounding then it means that the alarm has been triggered, not that the powersounder is failing.

common issues to cause alarm wailing is the bonnet switch bent down and in case of estate version like mine the rear window glass smash sensors, i just disconected them and alarm thinks its now a saloon

Power sounder can trigger the rest of the alarm and result in indicators going off. First step is to remove the power sounder, IMHO.

If it still goes off it's worth trying disconnecting the bonnet switch.

I checked the batteries on the power sounder with my multimeter and they were fine.

I don't understand why it was faulty???

just a reminder that when you remove the power sounder your car no longer meets thatcham cat 1 status and i have heard that insurance investigators have been known to check forums to see if people have mentioned removing parts of the alarm system so dont forget to mention the new power sounder you have refitted  :y :y :y :y

Interesting, I wonder what the Statistics are on the number of Insurance Claims for Omega's being stolen through not having a Power Sounder fitted compared to the number of Claims for the same Car being burnt to the ground with the PS fitted?
