£6900? That must have been a late deal offer. Two nights and Joan Collins thrown in.

I liked the bit where the red carpet was rolled back for the passing woman and pram. ;D

Claridges is lovely, I've had afternoon tea there twice, and stayed once in the past 3 months. It is expensive, but the attention to detail, as illustrated is intense.
Imagine though the bill for the 48 or so rooms booked by one party  ;D

;D I just take a wig and 'do a runner' before they've noticted.
It's a treat, it can be awkward asking or allowing people to do things for you, you would ordinarily do yourself, but it's part and parcel of the experience. If you're polite and courteous to the staff it works well. Of course there are the people that demand, and swagger around in a 'I own the world way', but they soon learn their errors...notably from other guests.

i watched that program with great interest.  Yes it is expensive and no I wouldn't pay but it is a curious British institution and really a demonstration of how we can be slightly eccentric but excel at things.  Long may it continue.
