Servicing.
« on: 15 December 2012, 22:49:01 »

Is there any benefits from getting my car serviced at a Vauxhall dealer. I have noticed the Drive Vauxhall Leicester is advertising services FROM £99, I wonder what the final bill will be.

I bought the car a couple of months ago but never got the service record with it so I have no idea when or if it has been serviced  ???

Any suggestions.

No  ;) ;)

Any suggestions.
Ask for recommendations from friends for a local garage  ;)

Or as above, get a Trade Club card & buy oil & service item from Vauxhall & do it yourself. Then you know it's been done!

At £99 it sounds like what the dealership I valet at calls a value service.Basically this consists of oil and filter change air filter change, kick the tyres do a "health check"i.e.find all sorts wrong with the vehicle to try and flog customer more stuff than they wanted to buy and send it back out job done.

OK I can take a hint.  :)

But how do I get all these software updates I keep reading about, I would have thought that would have been a Vauxhall job.

The Omega is still very much an old-fashioned car and it's also very well proven, having been around for many years. This means it doesn't need the stream of updates and recalls that are applied to new cars these days. I would say the only systems where there are updates available and worth considering are the climate control and automatic gearbox. In both cases, the car will still function fine without them, but one of our members with a Tech 2 could update these for you at a much more attractive price than any main dealer.

There is simply no reason to use a main dealer to service an Omega, and plenty of reasons not too, as has been mentioned!

It's also worth saying that, if you're not too hot on the spanners yourself, there are "mobile mechanics" here who would be happy to carry out most servicing tasks at a better price, and to a better standard than most garages.
