Christmas dinner
« on: 18 December 2012, 13:47:43 »

My whole world collapsed this morning, when swmbo told me my daughter in law is getting a CHICKEN for christmas dinner. Whaaaat....I have to have turkey, I cannot survive christmas without my gigantic turkey drumstick. . How could she..... :o :o :o

It has now been decreed between me and swmbo, that we will buy the christmas turkey.....this has not yet been put to mine host, and I do tend to play a lesser role where she is concerned ;D ;D ;D ;D Father in Law beating imminent ;D ;D

I'd rather have a really nice roast beef joint, or better still roast pork with crispy crackling..

Each to their own, and there's nothing wrong with a decent roast joint, but I need my Turkey for Xmas !

On the matter of Turkeys, I've tried all kinds, fresh superfreerangehandfedrarebreedbronzemegamoney ones, and also frozen. Really can't tell the difference once it's been cremated by me  ;D. So this year, frozen, but a big-un.  :y

It's down to how it's cooked ;)

SWMBO always cooks goose on a rack and upside down for the first half to 2/3 of the cooking time and it never comes out fatty ;) Rich, very rich actually, but not fatty :y

Really, all the one's I've had have been quite moist, Errrr . .  Turkeys that is  :o

But seriously, take care when cooking and it should not be dry.

Oil and bacon all over, a "tent" of foil not packed tight, remove foil for last hour to brown. No problem   ;)

I have to agree with Rog.....

We always seem to get a moist job, but its probably how the misses cooks it. Probably the same with LD's goose, as he says.... ;)

If you're going to risk getting a bloody nose over this anyway, Terbert, I'd be arguing for a beef wellington, myself. :y
