Continued Miss-fire on pot 4
« on: 26 December 2012, 13:48:33 »

So fatherT's 2.2 has been having issues with a miss-fire on pot 4 (according to the codes)

Fresh plugs, did not resolve it. Swapped coil pack from my 2.2 to his, as mine was a lot newer. Still same.

Codes:

P1526 - Throttle Position no Adaption
P1525 - Limp Home Adaption Error
P1550 - Electronic Throttle Control Engine Stop
P1329 - Knock Control Maximum Spark Limit Cylinder 4

I'm thinking a good clean of the throttle body and breathers next, but can throttle body issue just cause an issue with pot 4?  :-\

I know its had a P0304 in the past.

Tunnie, maybe some of these are old codes, and you want to look at non cylinder specific issues, esp those around throttle

Today, or maybe tomorrow  ::) - Its going to get fresh oil & filter and full throttle body breather clean. Just wondering if on cold start, its sticking a bit, restricting air flow intake, pots not getting enough air?  :-\

Never been an issue for us, on either 2.2 - Plugs always been nice and clean & dry.

If you do get the miss-fire, switch off, restart & its fine  :-\

Checked scuttle foam today, dry as a bone as were plugs. Never known water in plugs on ours?

However, as I'm in London these days, I've not been able to keep on jobs I should have been. Rather ashamed I let a throttle body get this bad:

Looking better now though:

After some fresh oil & filter, its feeling a lot smoother.

Doing my 2.2 tomorrow, hopefully won't be ask bad!

Blimey!! that is surely the winner of dirtiest throttle body! cant remember ever seeing one so bad,

looks like its throwing a lot of oil through it though? breather problems?

The tiny hole in the throttle body was blocked, but the main breather pipes mostly clear. Small bore pipe from back of the throttle body to cam cover clear. Large pipe from cam cover to air intake, also very clear, slight bit of mayo on edges.

Oil changed every 3k or 4k ish without fail, with GM oil & filter.

Been at least 2 years since I've done full breather clean, more like 3 years which I'm ashamed to say  :(
