Diplomats are nice cars but it seems a lot of work plumbing in a V6 when you could just put a gold top or 24V in and be able to source most parts to do so easily enough.

hardest part will be the ignition, v6 is coil pack carlton is dizzy, might need to talk to the LC boys on ABS, there was a chap in the manta owners who put a 2.5 in a manta a few years back.

If you search German Ebay with the words Opel Omega Irmscher there's quite a selection of 4.0 straight six engines/parts 8) if you're to do summat, might as well do it properly :y

It's been done but it has it's difficulties.
The engine will drop onto the standard 2.0 subframe but will rub a little on the bulkhead.
The looms can be spliced in but the fuel computer will not work.  It's likely though that the 2.0 loom will not have the pickup for the speedo, so you will either need to use the 2.0 box and cable speedo or use a dash loom and clocks from a six cylinder carlton.

The brakes and front struts will bolt straight in so no probs there.

It was this one.

The chap that built it goes by the name of 'Mantaray' on a few forums, and has posted a link to CRC Classics in Coventry (www.crclassics.co.uk). Apparently it was built using parts from a previous V6 Manta conversion so probably the same as the one mentioned above.

Looking at the space in front of that engine I would be thinking at least 3 litres and two cylinders bigger :y
