R Class Mercedes (from about 2008 they're 7 seaters, earlier cars are only 6 )  :y :y They certainly different and not at all common - you rarely see them on the road.

Have had two Alhambras. Both good cars but now have an S-max which is so much better to drive. Nice engine with good spread of power (140bhp oil burner). Better ride than the Alhambras and it's handling for such a big bus is amazing. Slightly smaller than the Galaxy but we manage ok. Running costs cheaper than the VAG cars with cambelt being every 10 years or 120k miles. VAg's are 40k which also includes the earlier Galaxy's. French brigade seem much more plastically inside. If you do go down the Ford route look for a Titanium trim or above. You gets lots of goodies and of course the 3rd row of seats fold into the floor which makes it a lot less agro.
