The Never Ending Omega Story!!
« on: 04 January 2013, 12:25:18 »

Hi all

After some serious consideration and following the epic in my previous posts....http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=110676.0 I have decided my course of action will be to do the following.....

Change cam sensor (again
Change crank sensor
Change Transmission control module
Change Selector switch on gear box
Change gearbox oil and filter

Hopefully once this lot has been done and over a grand spent, the starting problems could be sorted. If the problem are still there after all this then i'll be posting here asking for a can of petrol and some matches!!!!

Cheers

No....stop.

Whoever is doing this work clearly has no clue.....any monkey can change parts randomly.

Starting issues will be engine related and nothing else.

The only possible way the auto could cause an issue is IF it was applying some additional load whilst cranking.

There is also nothing lika a grands worth of parts there.

Plus, there are a number of other 'service' type jobs which should be done way before any of this.

Crank Sensor was 96 quid
Cam sensor 92 quid
TCM 690
Selector Switch 182

All plus VAT from Pentagon Vauxhall this morning!!!!

No other codes showing, auto sparkie is ex Vauxhall Master Tech who works alone. He said the TCM would probably have survived the water but I decided if I was gonna do it properly I might aswell. If this fails I'll be down at the Volvo dealers in the morning lol

That's an awful lot of money to spend on nothing more than the hope that it might fix it. :o

Cancel the order, and get someone who knows what they are doing to diagnose it properly. I have never heard of a gearbox ECU failing, and to spend that sort of money on one is madness.

Given that the Omega is such a large and rarified beast, it will require 1.007 litres, so you'll have buy two bottles. It also has the shelf life of a month old aubergine ;D

The thing is, its no the car thats the issue, its the person working on it.

As a quick overview, there has never been a Vx dealer in Nottingham I would trust and that stands even to this day.........

As for the selector switch (which can be easily cleaned and then checked with tech 2) and the transmission control module, you could probably have got these from Megavaux for a ton plus the TCM's just dont fail.

Where is the car in Nottingham?

On my drive in Long Eaton

I would take that very expensive shopping back of car bits back to dealer now & get full refund.

Let MarkDTM take a look, bet you he resolves problem & its less than 3 figures  ;)  :)
