My 2.5 year old girl has the same problem, she has now stopped sleeping during the day and will go to bed of her own accord at night when she is tired. This can be anytime between 10pm and midnight! If she goes to bed at 10pm she gets up at about 6am and if it is not until midnight then she will get up at about 8am. Different children need different amounts of sleep.

She is a very happy, jovial child. The complete reverse of my grown up daughter who was a miserable child.

Natalie is mad on drawing and painting and very good for her age. Ask her to paint a car and she draws round wheels and the outline of a car's body. Where one of her little jobs is feeding the chickens, she also loves drawing and painting them! She knows all her colours, so when told to we will use the red paint next etc. she picks out the right colour. She also knows most of the 33 letters of the Ukrainian alphabet and when asked can draw or paint them. She also takes after both mum and dad, where she loves looking through books, we are both avid readers. My wife where she is a primary school teacher and teaches small infants is very good at making learning interesting and fun for Natalie with a wide range of activities. From pastry cooking, to running around kicking or throwing balloons.

The amount of energy and running about they have at this age is amazing. She is also like all 2 to 3 year olds going through the tantrum 2's where she makes her displeasure well known as soon as things aren't going how she wants them, especially when pushing the boundaries of behaviour. But around 3 they grow out of the tantrums.

You reckon! ::) ::)  Just wait until your girl starts to become a teenager.  Then you will know what tantrums really are ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Or even an adult, hey Lizzie  ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Been through that with my grown up daughter. Different sort of tantrum as teenagers, where they know everything, it is all about trying to have the last word. Where girls hormones also change by the day at this age they seem to have major mood swings, from teenage giggling, to shouting to crying, back to laughing again all in the space of minutes.  ::) :o :o :o

At 24 she doesn't need any time of the month to fire off, as like her mum she leads with her mouth, although fortunately it is normally at her partner or playing up children in the firing line. :o :o :o

Hi all, my 2.5yrs old daughter doesn't want to sleep after dining as she really enjoys the life and finds it much more interesting than the sleep. Wifey and me been trying a lot of tricks day by day unfortunately till now unsuccessfuly. Antonia is looking forward the mornings and after waking up she run to play - she loves her own builder toys - and when arriving dining sleep we can not to smuggle her into the bed...then she sleeps about 9-10 hrs per day, which is not enough by our guess. If you have any idea or experience please share on here. thx    Laszlo

Don't listen to the 'Experts' all children are different but she needs more than she thinks I would suggest.... :y
At that age there were many nights when I would take Miss Vamps out for a run in the car, she always fell asleep and could be carried in and put to bed........ :y :y

We did it all 'wrong', according to the text books, re bed, sleep and letting her in with us, as she grew up but she is fine, even on Christmas eve she will go to bed and go to sleep.... :y :y

my hubby got stressed with shane. so in the end he kept him awake all day and shane when to his roomat 6 with half an hour reading with mummy or daddy then it was sleeps time. the hardest thing was not to go running to him when he cried loads and then he started climbing out of bed so we would just pick him up and put him back with out talking to him or showing any imotions to him ( its kinda hard when your crying cos you think your being cruel) then the next day we would get him up at 7 and keep him awake all day then back to bed at 6 and so on  :y it took about 3/5 days of pure hell and we wanted to give up but it was so worth sticking to our guns cos it worked and life became so much better. if he did need an afternoon nap he wasnt allowed to sleep past 3pm other wise he wouldnt go to sleep at 1830.

what every you decide to do make sure you stick to it.

my boy is like me likes a routine and hates deviating from it. i hate holidays cos his routine all goes to pot and it takes us 3 days and a whole load of arguements to get him back into it. but its worth it in the end.
