Seems like bad injectors?
« on: 14 January 2013, 00:58:12 »

When I started engine, it was shaking, got misfire codes 301, 302, 303. After 2-3 min, it begun running fine, I cleared codes. I drove for about 20 min and got codes 171 and 174.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

The thing wiht omegas/cateras is that if you get a code (and you dont always get one) it doesn't always relate to the actual part which is faulty.

Quick Q an minor thread hijack: I could be moving to the US later this year, you said in a previous thread that Cateras are rare.  Is this true? And how much do they generally go for?

They didn't sell very well because they weren't a proper Caddy  ;)

As mentioned a few times, codes are only raised when certain parameters are out of spec.

As an example, the MAF would only be flagged if the air passing through it was outside of the range of values predicted by calculating the throttle position and revs expecetd air mass value.

As a MAF fails it can get to the stage where lambda values are out of range (block learn at an end stop) and miss fires are occuring before the MAF fault is raised.

Cateras have bad reputation and considered unreliable.
Prices are different, depending on year and mileage, you can check them on ebay.
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=catera&_sacat=6001&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=catera&_osacat=6028&bkBtn=&_trksid=p4506.m270.l1313
or craigslist in my area
http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/search/cta?srchType=T&zoomToPosting=&query=catera&minAsk=&maxAsk=

I bought mine very cheap (but not cheap enough to compensate for my work and parts) with dead engine and damaged hood, bumper and one headlight.
The only problem, which was not due to age or owners fault, was bad ABS module. ($72 from junk yard)
Some guy paid $400 for Catera with bad oil cooler. Seller believed, it was head gasket.
