The auto gearbox on my 2.2 is a bit reluctant (occasionally) to change up especially when either cold or pulling away from a stopped position i.e. roundabout or junction. It is fine once it has done the initial up change and drives great up and down the box until you stop again. The oil etc has been changed so I was wondering if it could be a software issue? Any ideas? The local Vauxhall dealer wants £60+ just to check the software is up to date.

It intentionally delays the upshifts when cold to warm the cats up quicker.

Agree with Kevin... but it should only really delay the very first gearchange from cold - if it's still doing that a few minutes into your trip, something isn't right.

In terms of a software update, I wouldn't recomment it at this stage. I would just get the fault codes read and see if there are any telltales there. I wouldn't be upgrading any firmwhere while there is still a known issue - as it could mask it / make diagnosis more difficult.

Ultimately, it won't be a software 'issue' as it's worked fine for years on that software from the factory. The update simply adds some refinement and improvements - it won't cure any faults.

That sounds like cam sensor to me. I had the same probs on my 2.2 some few months ago. And the problem disappeared after changing the sensor.

OK thanks will give that a try. Just driven from Moffat in Scotland to Durham and it only did it once, the rest of the time it was fine.

Usually it will drive normal after warming up when its a camshaft sensor problem. Also it has to be a genuine one to solve the problem. Thanks
