Don't break around. Buy a Media Center :P  (complete with its American spelling)

Trouble with media server.....and ive tried....it doesnt have a f****** clue what to do with iso files  >:(

Altho in this thread probably not a prob to the OP
Either extract, or Mount the ISO.  Thats the advantage of PC based over proprietry junk ;)

Why make it more complicated or difficult :-\

The WD box knows what to do with them and with remote plays them just like a DVD  :y

Indeed. Find numerous files on the lap top drive and it just played them.

Just got to play with it a bit more and find the file path to the external hard drive. :)

Will try an Ethernet tomorrow, and see. But it looks to be as Aaron said, wifi didn't man enough for streaming that amount of data. There is talk of lowering the.... Well here's the link. Doesn't make much sense to me, but then it wouldn't. Would it. ::)

If you need a long ethernet cable, let me know how long, I'll knock one up.  Only got Cat5e here though, but that should cover any requirements you have.

The OPs logic is utter utter, utter, complete utter 'dangle berries'. Though I barely made it part way through the post, as I have to read enough 'dangle berries' at work, don't want to do so in my own time.

But the, he owns a gayStation, so is clearly suffering "issues"

Certainly, sir, which vlan would you like to be in, and which internet connection would you like permission to?

If you can get O2 or sky to get bt to fix both our lines, that would be good.

Sky line has seized up.

O2 hangs intermittently.

Yeah, PMSL. A bit like the bloke at my work who has been tasked with writing what amounts to a very expensive network throughput tester. Being the scabby contractor in the meeting I didn't hesitate to point out that he's utterly re-inventing the wheel, and should instead spend 30 seconds downloading IPERF*.

But no. Apparently that wouldn't be testing our underlying code too. Well, if a few thousand lines of code that opens a TCP connection and stuffs some data into one end is the bottleneck rather than an IP connection to a shed in a field. Argh!

Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest. ::)

If you're going to run an ethernet cable to near your TV, I recommend you do what I did.
I bought an (older) PC - about 1.7Ghz - running XP. which cost me £30
Plugged it into the network, hooked it up to the big telly. USB mouse and keyboard plugged into the front when needed.
Now I can watch pornhub engineering tutorials on youtube from the comfort of my armchair on a proper telly - with "download helper", I can download the entire youtube file first so no lag
It has a DVD player, and my choice of media player, as well as access to my entire collection of music.

Most flat screen tellys have a monitor connection.
