National Lottery
« on: 17 January 2013, 13:26:03 »

So, the National Lottey has anounced that later this year there will be bigger prizes blah blah blah

BUT . . . the price of a ticket will increase from £1 to £2. This is not Euromillions, this is plain old ordinary Lottery.

Although my kids call the Lottery the "Idiot Tax", I play regularly and have done for years. But how many people will think twice about buying a ticket at £2 instead of £1.

My octogenarian mother is really tight with cash but even she will splash out on the occasional £1 Lucky Dip, I very much doubt that she will do so at £2, and I will seriously consider giving it up completely.

Camelot keeps trying to squeeze more cash out of the gambling public with a boggling array of new games etc, but I think there is a limit to what can be squeezed, this just may have the opposite effect.

I to have called it the idiot tax on occasions, but it is not an idiot tax for the winners  :y

Never bought a ticket in my life. Wife does that sort of thing.

Ah, right.  :-[  I didn't equate the title with the subject matter, didn't know who or what "Dale" was so didn't read it. I never actually watch Lottery draws on tv.

Gave up doing the lottery years ago , most i ever won was £10  :( I see the prizes will be increased but its still cr@p . Cant see how they can justify £2 a ticket but a lot of people will still keep buying as normal addicted to putting the same numbers on ... put your £2 or £4 a week under the bed  ;D

Well, a couple of years ago I was filling car up and bought 3 lucky dips at petrol station. £1,450 !  :)

But still probably less that I've paid out since 1994   :(

Nice one  ;) Its probably the best option to have lucky dips , but 3 dips will cost £6 now , that will run my car for a week  ;D

When I went to pick up the cash at a Post Office the guy told me to give up playing, as it would be unlikely that I would ever win again !  So far . . . he was correct  :'(

But yes, 3 Lucky Dips at £3, yes. 3 at £6, no ! I don't care if the prizes are bigger, I mean "Oh dear I only won £1m insead of £5m" BoooHooo. I would rather see the jackpots reduced and smaller prizes increased.

Wish I did lucky dips. My numbers are imprinted on my memory. I'll have to be hypnotised to forget them.   :(
