Tis what I have quietly been thinking for a few days..... ::) ::) I remember 1982 and how well a Transit pick up with 1.5 Tonnes of Propane Gas on the back will do in the snow..... :y :y  We went the wrong way round to rescue a bus, went about 50 miles, the bus was about 5 miles away from home, we even drove North up the South bound carriageway of the A1M, Police just wanted us home and North bound was blocked with abandoned vehicles.....have loads of stories from that day....... :y :y :y

When I was a lot younger, the old folks told us of the winter of 1947. The snow drifted in their village (in North Yorkshire ) and filled the main street up to the window ledges of the 1st floor bedrooms.
I remember vividly being able to walk over neighbours beech hedges that were six foot high and covered by hard drifted snow that lasted for weeks.

The authorities risk adverse attitude, stay at home, don't go to work etc, etc, to me shows all that is wrong with this country and our ruling classes. Come April and we are back in a triple dip recession, it will be all our faults according to the politicians for staying at home, due to the bad weather.  >:( >:( >:(

When I was a child / young adult, we had ice and snow in winter and we got up early, cleared drives and paths and went to school and work. It gets cold in winter and sometimes snows, why would you do any different? I would cycle to school and when I first started work and then ride my motorbike and eventually a car as that was my transport to be there on time as was expected.  :y :y :y

Is it any surprise that this country is doing so badly.  >:( >:( >:(

I really cannot understand wtf is going on nowadays >:(

Had some banking to do today, turned into a total farce. Went into my small local branch only to be told that the main branch of which they are a satellite had had a computer failure, so they couldn't process ANY enquiries :o so had to resort to their woeful phonebank service, only to be told that a couple of instant transfers hadn't happened as the faster payment process had failed.

Net result, one ten minute phonecall, two bounced direct debits, one very annoyed me.

The reason? Apparantly it has been snowing >:( Have driven nigh on 800 miles since friday, with no apparent side effects, so why should an entire bank fall apart? I just don't get it :-\
