Thanks to martin42 who did a full service on the pug 
Engine oil / air filter / plugs and coolant ... coolant was long overdue and i was on hand with the water to help flush it through  Just the driveshaft to do and all sorted

I bought the proper key for the sump bolt £2 , old plugs were not in bad shape but replaced anyway .. oil was long overdue a change as well , all 3 litres of it  Think it needs a few more to back on track so will do another in a few months . Should get 45-50 mpg now

Stupid air filter lid was a pain but sorted with a hammer     All done in about half an hour

See you thought people on here slag off your pug? didn't you--Surprised there then not bad cars and cheap to run-dare I say it a little bit envious at times but need the silver shed  as load carrier/parts chaser

If its been abused in a former life - sounds like it has - worth changing all the brake fluid as well.

fing bloody french cars,wished i never got involved lol,wasnt too bad,just airfilter assembly was a p.i.t.a,hope fully you can now enjoy going out and about again to £10 of petrol instead of £50 lol,got ecu ordered,complete with all locks and petrol cap for £60,hope this sorts out the cabby

Yes hope that cures the problem and does seem to be that after looking at the old one

guess what im doing sunday at yours,changing all the locks,will have ignition barrel changed tho so i can drive the car,as key is coded to ecu

When do you get the ecu ? Is it the upgraded one

well its 115 bhp,the old ecu was just a generic ecu for any 1.8,should be here by the 24th,now to get windscreen sorted out within the next couple off weeks,will wait for the better weather 
most of the ecu's i found didnt have a key with them,so would have had to take to stealers and get wallet raped by them,was easier to get an ecu with key so plug and ply
