We have 2 different people with too different faults in this thread.

I think one is an ECU, the other is a sensor due to knacked bracket.

An hour after getting my heating working I went out and noticed both TC and ABS and car with a spanner thru it lights were on and speedo wasnt working, so looks like my ECU was on the way out, the car starts and drives ok and everything else works ok, what are my options chaps considering I am broke.

A suitable second hand ABS ECU/pump,usually around £40 from someone breaking a car on here,or elsewhere. The downside of that is there is no way of knowing how long it will last.
Recondition your one by a specialist company - I believe around £150.
New from Vauxhall - take out a second mortage.

P.S. Its always worth getting a suitable code reader plugged into the car to check the problem isnt a duff wheel sensor before you go any further. Its more likely to be the ABS ECU,but worth checking.

I haven't had the ABS and TC lights come on together for about a week, today I plugged an OBDII code reader that connects to a laptop into my mig and I saved this out to file

I cleared the codes and ran the test again and it came up with no fault codes, is it still looking like a dodgy ABS ECU ?

The ABS/TC ECU becomes faulty because Bosch used a series of tiny aluminium wires to connect the circuit board to the electrical connector.

The joints between the circuit board and the aluminium wires tend to fracture and cause an intermittent contact. Once the joints have failed they won't heal themselves.

Iirc you should be able to go into one of the sections (chassis/brakes ?) and see if there is an ABS fault code.Havent done it for a while though,so may be wrong. :-\

Ok Albitz thanks, I did have a quick look in some of the other sections but just skimmed through 1 or 2 cant remember which, I will have a thorough look through them all when I hook it up next but might be tomorrow, I will report back with any other findings.

Bloody cars  ::) I go out this morning and the TC and ABS lights are on solid and no speedo and car with a spanner(is that EML?) I  get home dig out lappy connect up to Omega turn on and no TC ABS lights, I found the ABS and TC tests under the chassis section but it didnt throw up any faults, I found some tests where I think you can test each wheel speed, is it worth getting a mate to hold lappy and go for a drive and test these or not, or do I just need to test it when I have the ABS and TC lights lit up.

Thinking about it I may have made a schoolboy error by clearing the stored fault codes from when the lights where on earlier before I went into the Chassis section, when ABS TC come on next time I will not clear them before going into chassis section and having a look in there.

I have just taken the front n/s wheel off to inspect the abs sensor undid the screw waggled the sensor and the whole damn thing fell apart. I have disconnected it taped up the plug and now i'll take off the disc and knock the what is left of the sensor through. Has anyone out there got a front n/s abs sensor. I havn't got enough posts to post on the spare bit for sale so if anyone can help i would be gratefull.

Thats interesting Footloose, it was the front nearside I replaced a tie rod on just before this started, perhaps I need to take a look.
