The police haven't used the S60R, but have and still do use the S60 T5, some have used the D5.
The S60R is the only model to have a twin tailpipe fitted, all others use a single tailpipe.
The S60 was introduced on an 'X' plate with the 2.0T 5 cylinder with 180bhp, 2.4D 163BHP, D5 185bhp, T5 250bhp and 2.4 with 205 bhp
The range was then facelifted around '54' registration. This gave them slightly different interiors, wheels, new headlights and clearer rear lamp units. Chrome trim fitted to the bumper insrets on SE models. The T5 then produced 260bhp, the 2.4 was replaced with the 2.5 which produced 210bhp. Diesel engines remained the same.
There was another facelift typically around '57' registration which moved the side indicators from the body to the door mirror.
The final adjustments were made in 2008 where they gained a subtle, if odd lower spoiler by the front valance. The rear Volvo badging changed from 'Volvo' to V O L V O with greater spaces creating a longer name plate on the boot.
The S60 is a good solid dependable car with very good specification.
The current S80 generation 2007+ does just beat it though.
