Pug 107 Clutch
« on: 02 February 2013, 16:27:31 »

Anyone had any experience of the Pug107 and apparently "known" clutch issues ?
Mine's got 35,000 miles and showing signs - stiff changing especially 1st to 2nd.

Read about other owners who've had them go at 6,000 miles !!! Later models fitted with a larger 190mm plate which apparently does the job. Would expect a "city car" to have a clutch that's up to the job and lasts a lot more than 35,000.

Still under a 12 month used car warranty so have to see what they say.

Clutch won't be covered as it's a wear item :'(

Try taking it back and demand your money back as it isn't fit for purpose...

Though having said that, if it lives in town, the clutch is going to take a kicking whatever it's fitted to :-\

Depends on the previous owner.I have seen an elderly deaf driver smoke a clutch just going around the shops and be totally oblivious to the smoke and smell.

If its just stiff it might be worth a look at the linkages to the box first and possibly replace the cable first.

If it's owt like the 106 clutch, you can only adjust the cable so far before the clutch fails :-\ once it's on it's way out there isn't much stopping it :'(

Not surprised their crap if they're only 190mm diameter though :o

Looking at the gear linkage , its all rusty and worn .. looks like the original linkage . Going to replace the linkage in the better weather . Do these linkages just prise/pop off  :-\
