Auto box service fault code
« on: 07 February 2013, 11:14:02 »

Hi Guys,
Quick question, would a fault code saying auto box service put the car into limp home mode?
              Regards,
                    Ray

Yup.

Was it a fault code from the engine ECU (1700), or from gearbox ECU?

And its doesn't mean "the gearbox is due a service", it means "something is broken"

having had a auto box fail on my 2.6, it may be an idea to get the codes read by doing the pedal trick, and if none present then codes read from the gearbox ecu. but the latter can only be done via tech 2 i believe (somebody may prove me wrong)  ;)

And if it is a 1700 it could also be a throwback from a flat battery so I'd clear it and see if it comes back ;)
