Saw in the news the other day where the EU is setting new standards for beef mince. The UK government want an opt out where it will be defined as 2/3 meat to a 1/3 filler, where the filler is fat, sinuses etc., where they want to allow UK beef mince to continue to be up to 50% filler.

Which just goes to show that you can't trust beef mince either and really need to be mincing your own!
Now who is behind that then? Food industry lobbying parliament maybe. I have got to say that todays interview with the environment minister was pretty uninspiring. I wonder if when they are testing for horse and find horse and no beef, if they dipped "pig" litmus in whether they would find pig! It all seems to have gone tremendously quiet on
that front. maybe the government are frightened to death of a religous backlash and are creating a
horse smokescreen to hide behind before /while it is all cleaned up. What a totally sad state of affairs we have stooped to in the interests of profit and ultimate cheapness in food, especially lasagne which is a simple dish to create from scratch. We reap what we sow.
