Anyone know of estates with 3 button remotes?
« on: 12 February 2013, 20:43:53 »

Hi everybody :y
I think I've finally sorted Migsy's key programming problem
Finally went to a local mobile locksmith
To be told that Migsy cannot have 2 button keys if originally supplied with 3 button ones
This info came from his manual and applied to some late model estates
I did of course at first dispute this more or less insisting that estate cars only had 2 button remotes
So it looks as if the key that came with Migsy could well be original
It apparantly came up with the same Car Pass No's
So has anybody else had experience of 3 button keys with an estate?
Now I've saved my most interesting query till last namely:-
What function does the third button serve on an estate?
Asked this one to the locksmith got the response he didn't know and a suggestion that I ask the main dealer
Could it be a total closure button?
Anyway all will become alot clearer on Thurs when I should have the keys complete with the remotes
He couldn't supply them today as he needed to order the 2 remotes (3 button ones)

Possibly a nod to the early Vectra C estate locking, seperate lock release for the tailgate :-\

You'll find out soon enough :y

Could it be a total closure button?

Total closure is already on the two button key as 'press and hold'.  :-\

My 3.2 Elite Estate is within the last year of build and only has two buttons so I don't know the answer to that one.  :-\

All estates with only two buttons.  :y Your locksmith is talking 'dangle berries', there is no function for third button in an estate, has never been.

Thanks guys my gut feeling is the same and:-
He took 40.00 for sorting the two keys(programming transponders)
And verifying the Car Pass info to keys/remote
And wants 80.00 tomorrow for two 3 button remotes and programming
The 2 key blanks and virgin transponders cost 35.00
So total outlay for two keys with remotes 155.00 and it's odds on their the wrong ones :'( :'(
Suppose it's only a technical
Can always stick my nose in the air(be snobby) :o 8) ;D
My migsy estate's has 3 buttons not 2 like yours :D :P ::)

Let him do the 3 button remote but say to him you will only pay if the third button does something. Does sound like someone is trying to rip you off. Ive owned 4 estates in various trim levels and they all had only 2 buttons. My Vectra 2.2 diesel sri estate had 3 buttons

Wowwww! had a real result :y :o!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Contacted my local dealer this morning they confirmed that all late model omega estates had 2 button remote key fobs
Was about to phone the locksmith to point out the facts
When he phoned me to say the remotes would now be 2 button ones
He was a little vague about availability
So I asked if it would be possible to utilise the two keys from my previous omega estate(Miggy)
The upshot of this was that half hour later I'd crossed the city to his van
He was sat in the driving seat of migsy
Snowng like hell otside
With his programmer on his lap connected to migsy's diagnostic socket
Both miggy's keys in his hand
(they were on the same ring)
So he got busy
A few minutes later he pressed the buttons on both remotes
And they both worked :y :y
He'd done I think both remotes wirelessly at the same time
A minute or two later
When I got over my gobsmacked condition
I asked how much I owed and he said you payed me 40.00 yesterday
So thats OK
So now a very happy chappie :y :y
Just got to switch Miggy's Two 2 button remotes into the new keys/transponders
